German Village is an absolute gem amongst Columbus neighborhoods. The architecture is quaint. Cobblestone streets have amazing character and plopped right in the middle of it all is the most beautiful city park. So, when I get an opportunity to do a senior session at Schiller Park in German Village, I am excited for the chance. It’s one of my favorite spots in town. On this particular Sunday, I had 3 sessions in a row, there. Woo hoo!

One of the main reasons this park is so incredibly beautiful is the hard work of the Friends of Schiller Park. They work hard to maintain the park and their work with the Huntington Garden is stunning! Gorgeous at all times! Add a gorgeous high school senior named Faith and what you have is a perfect senior session at Schiller park. Perfect.

Clothing choices

Faith gives me a great opportunity to discuss clothing choices for sessions. She had two dresses and one casual outfit. That’s a great mix of looks.

The first dress was short and white. It had sweet little sleeves. The white made it a good neutral option and let’s face it, with her skin tone and hair color, it was a fantastic neutral option. Her next dress was a soft periwinkle color. It’s a more unique choice in the color world and I love that she went that route. That color really popped amongst the greenery of the park (as shown above). Her final outfit was jeans and a cute top. Again, she chose a soft color that worked really well when we went away from the greenery and into the architecture of German Village. Her choices were so good! Who could guess that little swim nugget would turn into this beautiful swimmer?! (Spoiler: it was obvious.)

We met at the local pool a bit before golden hour. We strategized photos out of the pool and in the pool to maximize that gorgeous hair of hers. We talked about her summer and how busy it was with swim events. This girl has traveled all over for swimming and no surprise to me, she made waves wherever she went. I’m so excited for her. It is a great feeling when you work hard to achieve your goals and attain success along the way. Honestly, it’s inspiring!

Now… This is the first time I’ve done swimming senior pictures so I really wanted to do a think or two that wasn’t a “typical” photo. I wanted to give her something special. I really hope I achieved that goal.

And then there’s this photo which I am currently obsessed with…. Thanks to her mom’s assistance, we pulled it off!

So Emily… BEST wishes in your very bright future! I’ll be cheering you on!

Would ya look at that little puddin’?!!! AT first, she wasn’t in love with being in that liquid. Thankfully, though, she warmed up to the idea and showed that perfectly precious little smirk of hers! I’m a sucker for her beautiful eyes as well.

Sweet Savannah Banana is the youngest of three. She has two big brothers who HAD to be part of the action.

First up is Jackson. This little spitfire!!! How could you not fall in love with that face? (Spoiler… you will fall in love. Period.)

And then there’s Harrison. He’s the first born and I remember when I first met him as a tiny little baby! HOW? How is it that all my clients are growing up and I am here standing still and of course, not aging one little bit? LOL. Let’s be real. I’m definitely getting older but man… as long as y’all keep coming back. I’ll be doing this job. So, the next time you’re thinking of doing outdoor photos of kids, hit me up. It happens every Spring. OSU graduation. Campus is full of excited people ready to take on the world with their fresh degrees. You can’t walk around campus without seeing graduates in caps and gowns soaking in their last days at The Ohio State University. I’m always thrilled to be one of the photographers trotting around campus! This one was special to me because of my connection to one of the graduates’ family.

Jacob (far right) is part of a family I absolutely adore!! His sister is a friend of my son and over the last several years, I’ve grown close with his mom. Those connections make my job that much more enjoyable. So… I met the guys on campus and we started at the Schott because Jacob was working there this year with the basketball team.

I don’t know yet if I have permission to share the images we took inside the Schott so… we’ll share this one and I’ll just tell you as a big ole Buckeye fan, this was a real treat and I know it meant a lot to Jacob because of his connection with the team.

No campus photoshoot is complete without a visit to the Shoe. It is such an iconic building and it feels like all the energy in Columbus is centered on that building every home game Saturday in the fall.

Jacob’s cap says it all. I love it!!

There is not a chance that you can do a graduation session on campus without a photo with this statue of a former president of the university. It’s iconic.

Fisher College of Business

These three friends are all graduating with degrees in finance so a photo with the signage was appropriate.

The building behind them is such a gorgeous piece of architecture. We were concerned because it is completely surrounded by chain link fencing but I found a workaround. I laid flat on the sidewalk, fully committing to the photo. (provided by Jeff)

Bottom line is I am absolutely certain these three have a bright future ahead and I’m glad I had the opportunity to document this exciting time in their journey.

There really is something special about a wedding at Franklin Park Conservatory. It has become something of a wedding mecca in Central Ohio and not just for the obvious reasons. Obviously, a conservatory will have a lush landscape for photos but our conservatory has so much more.

First and foremost, the Franklin Park Conservatory has multiple areas where couples can get married or have their reception: The Wells Barn, the Palm House, the Brides Garden and so much more. In addition to multiple locations within the location, it’s just plain gorgeous. Dale Chihuly is a reknowned glass artist and he has multiple pieces on display at Franklin Park. That artwork was a real draw for Laura and Bob. I totally understand why.

Because of their love of the glass, I tried to incorporate it into many photos from their portraits on down to their details.

I think the shoe picture was one of Laura’s favorite photos and honestly, if you know me, you KNOW I love a good pair of wedding shoes. Shoes are an art form all their own. Perhaps I should write a blog post entirely devoted to wedding shoes. Hmmmm. But I digress.

The beautiful thing about Bob and Laura, aside from their love of artistic glass, is their easy going style. They were so relaxed on their big day! I loved watching them with those closest to them, celebrating their brand new union. One great bonus to the pandemic has been smaller and more intimate weddings. There’s something special about them.

It’s like ra-aa-ain on your wedding day….

Rain is always a concern on wedding days but the old saying is that rain brings good luck. It also brings a lovely sheen to the bricks outside the Palm House. Am I right?!

Best wishes to Bob & Laura!! And if you’re planning a wedding at Franklin Park Conservatory, I sure hope you’ll consider me. I know all the sweet spots for photos.

Taking senior photos in Worthington is always a treat! I was really glad Nate picked this location!

Nate came to me as a referral. I am absolutely certain that you all know how happy and grateful I am when I get one of those. Honestly, my little business survives on them so, you know… No pressure… But… If you ever get the chance to pass my name along to someone in need of a photographer, I’d be very, very grateful!

I met Nate at the Worthington Inn.

The porch on that building never fails to offer an excellent photo op. Couple that brick texture with his look and we have set the bar for senior photos in Worthington. I mean… Look at him! The khaki pants and dress shirt combo totally works for him. He also has great hair!!

Behind the inn, there’s a parking lot with all kinds of great texture, including this wall of ivy. It was right about here, Nate really started to loosen up. His sense of humor made the session time pass by in a flash. I swear we walked ALL around the uptown area!

He and his mom did a great job with clothes. One dressier outfit and one more casual outfit. Personally, I’m a casual gal myself so… the hoodie and flannel is my favorite! It’s a really good idea to give yourself a mix of clothing options for your session. Two to three outfits is ideal

The truth of the matter is that there are an awful lot of Central Ohio photographers. I mean…. a LOT! If I’m being honest, a bunch of them are even talented. 😉 Being keenly aware of that, means I am incredibly grateful when you amazing, good looking, very smart people choose me to be your photographer.

Don’t tell all those other photographers but I get the best clients. No question. You invite me into your lives to document ALL the good stuff: newborns, family photos, senior photos, graduations, business photos, engagements, weddings and so much more. I get to do something I love and you get to enjoy photos for years to come.

Omar came to me as a referral and I was so happy to get to photograph him! I mean. Did you get a look at those dimples?! And that smile?! Come on! He was a little shy about photos at first but it didn’t take long for this dazzling smile to come out and I’m so glad it did!!

I have known Erin for quite a while. She was actually a DK employee back in the day. Erin was there before Andy and I got married. She was there when the kids were born. Erin is a big hearted, full of love person and I’m really grateful for her!! When she called me to come do family photos in Kirkersville, I was thrilled! They have this awesome old house on a pretty piece of property and her two youngest kids are a constant source of smiles. Don’t let the tiny bodies fool you. They contain a lot of personality! And… the bonus? A couple of adorable grandpas joined us!

One of the best parts about Erin and Anthony, is that they really enjoy life—as it is. We all know that life can be crazy, chaotic and unpredictable. Those two simply go with the flow and let life do its thing. It’s a quality I truly admire. That’s why this photo really represents who they are.

Who knew that family photos in Kirkersville could be so cute?!! I did. I knew. This family brings the fun, every single time.

I have to talk about the freckles and red hair in this bunch. I’m in LOVE!!!! Truth be told, I have serious freckle envy. I’ve always wanted freckles. Alas, I have none. Lucky for me, I get to photograph faces that have them.

Do you know one of the best parts of my job? Getting to capture little moments that aren’t part of the ‘plan’. This little moment between Anthony and little Viv just captured my heart. Their bond is obvious!

All in all, I’m calling this an awesome photo sessions and totally worth the drive to Kirkersville.

What’s the perfect recipe for gorgeous senior photos? It’s one part great location, one part stunning subject and a dash of dorky photographer thrown in. I think Abbey totally covered the ‘stunning subject’ part while I nailed the dorky photographer part. This young lady is just so dang pretty with such a beautiful smile. I don’t think I could go wrong. As gorgeous as she is, she’s just as good a person. It’ll be exciting to see what the future holds for her. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I have the best client/friends! You should probably schedule a session. 😉

We started our day at a little sweet spot at Alum Creek. With water views, wooded areas, and more than one meadow to choose from, it has all the makings for gorgeous senior photos.

After Alum Creek, we decided to throw a little urban flair in the mix. Bridge Park in Dublin has all the architectural and urban flair a Central Ohio photographer could ever want.

Don’t you think her choice of clothes for Bridge Park was absolutely classic? Jeans and a black tank? Chef’s kiss.

I met Abbey through the Dublin Scioto High School soccer team. She’s a teammate and friend of my daughter. She’s an amazing goalie! So, of course, we finished up our time at the high school capturing a few images of her in her uniform.
